Dies ist meine erste "Auftragsarbeit". Eine Studentin aus Island, welche auf der Suche nach einem Playmobil^® DJ war, hatte meinen Web-Auftritt gefunden und mir ins Gästebuch geschrieben. Ihr Freund Ernir ist DJ – nennt sich DJ Playmobil – und so wollte sie ihm eine Playmobil^® DJ-Figur zum Geschenk machen. Nachdem sie schon eine Weile im Netz recherchiert hatte, kam sie folgerichtig zu dem Schluss, dass Playmobil^® bisher keine DJ-Figur herausgebracht hatte. So fragte sie mich, ob ich ihr eine Figur machen könnte, oder zumindest ein Foto von einer, damit sie ihm ein T-Shirt damit bedrucken könnte. Sie hatte eine konkrete Vorstellung von dem DJ-Board, den zwei Plattentellern und einem Kopfhörer (sie stellte mir Fotos davon zur Verfügung, nach denen ich die Dinge entwerfen könnte).

Ich war geschmeichelt und fand zudem Gefallen an der Idee der Studentin, welche ihrem Liebsten ein sehr spezielles Geschenk machen wollte. Ich fragte mich ausserdem, ob ich das hinbekommen würde, und so war es schließlich noch eine persönliche Herausforderung. Wegen ihrer noblen Geste, weil es Weihnachtszeit war und weil mich die Rohstoffe weniger als einen Euro kosteten, habe ich mich entschlossen, ihr diesen Gefallen umsonst zu machen.

This was my very first "commissioned work". A student from iceland found my Web site and wrote to my guestbook, looking for a Playmobil^® DJ. Her boyfriend Ernir is DJ — named DJ Playmobil — and so she wanted to make him a Playmobil^® DJ figure for a gift. She correctly assumed — already searching several days the net — that Playmobil hadn't released no DJ figure, so she asked if it would be possible to provide a figure or at least a photo so that it can be printed to a T-shirt. She had a concrete image in mind about the DJ board, two turntables and some headphones (she provided some photos of the board, the turntables and even one of her boyfriend, so that I could design a corresponding figure).

I was flattered being asked and really loved the idea of this female student looking for a very special gift for her darling. I also was wondering if I can customize something suitable so it was also a personal challenge for myself. Due to her noble idea and because it was about Christmas time and because the raw material didn't cost me more than 1 € I decided to make her this favour for free.
