Beim Dioramenbau oder der Nutzung von Objekten, welche nicht dem Playmobil® Sortiment entstammten, ist es hilfreich, wenn man den Maßstab der Playmobil® Welt kennt. Diesen zu bestimmen, ist jedoch nicht ganz einfach, treten doch innerhalb des Sortiments Diskrepanzen bzgl. einer einheitlichen Größenskalierung auf (z.B. recht gut zu sehen bei manchen Tierarten wie Meerschweinchen, Mäusen, Eichhörnchen, etc.). Das ist an sich kein großes Manko, erschwert aber die Bestimmung des Maßstabs. 
For building dioramas or using items which are not taken out of a Playmobil® set, it is very usefull to know the scale of the Playmobil® world. But it is not easy to determine this ratio, because within the sets and their items there are certain discrepancies with respect to the scale (e.g. you easily can see this looking at certain animals like the guinea pigs, mice, or squirrels, and some others). This is no deficit at all but makes it difficult to determine the scale at the end. |
Das Problem fängt schon an, wenn man die Größe einer Playmobil®-Figur von 7,5 cm als Grundlage nimmt: sowohl die weiblichen als auch die männlichen Figuren sind gleich groß. In der Realität unterscheiden sich allerdings die durchschnittlichen Körpergrößen von Männern und Frauen. Setzt man die Größe der Figur in Bezug zu einem durchschnittlichen (deutschen) Mann von knapp 1,8 m ¹, so erhält man einen Maßstab von 1:24. Wenn man jetzt die gleiche Größe der weiblichen Figuren in Bezug zur durchschnittlichen Körpergröße einer deutschen Frau von 1,69 m ¹ setzt, so erhält man hingegen einen Maßstab von 1:22,5. |
The problem already starts if you take the size of a Playmobil® figure with 2.95 inches height for reference: the height of a male as well as a female figure are the same. However in reality the average height of men and women are different. If you set the height of the figure in proportion to an average British man with 5,8 ft ¹ this will result to a scale of 1:23.6. On the other hand, if you set the same height of a female figure in relation to the average height of a British woman (5,36 ft ¹) you receive a scale of 1:21.77. |

Versucht man den Maßstab über die Raumhöhe der Gebäude zu bestimmen, erhält man wieder andere Werte. Beispielsweise hat ein System-X® Wandelement eine Höhe von 12 cm. Setzt man das mit einer realen Raumhöhe von 2,4 m gleich, dann erhält man einen Maßstab von 1:20; bei 3 m wären es entsprechend 1:25. |
You also get different values, if you try to determine the scale via the room height of certain buildings. For example a System-X® wall element has a height of 4.72 inches. If you set this equal to a real room height of 7.87 ft, you will receive a scale of 1:20; with 9.84 ft it would be 1:25. |

Rechnen wir als nächstes mal den Maßstab auf Grundlage eines Pkw durch. Ausgangspunkt soll dabei der Streifenwagen (3903 oder 3904) sein. Er hat eine Länge von knapp 21 cm. Lässt man diese z.B. mit der Länge einer Mercedes-Benz C-Klasse² korrespondieren (4526 mm), kommt man auf einen Maßstab von 1:21,5. Das ganze mit einer E-Klasse² (4818 mm) durchexerziert liefert knapp 1:23. |
Now let's take the dimensions of a car for calculating the scale. Starting point should be the Police car (3903 or 3904). It has a length of approximately 8.27 inches. If you let corrospond this to the length of a Mercedes-Benz C-Class² (178.19 inches), you will get a scale of 1:21.5. Soweit die Theorie. In der Praxis habe ich mich für folgende Werte entschieden: für alles was größer als ein Klicky ist, lege ich einen Maßstab von 1:20 zugrunde (Gebäude, Straßen, Grundstücke, Vehikel, Maschinen, etc.). Alles was kleiner als eine Figur ist, wird in erster Linie nach der optischen Relation bzw. der Handhabbarkeit durch die Klicky-Hände entworfen; Ausgangspunkt dabei ist für mich der Maßstab 1:14, welcher meines Erachtens am Besten passt (vgl. die Papiergegenstände). |
So far the theory. In practice I have decided to go with the following values: everything that is bigger than a Klicky I rebuild in a scale of 1:20 (buildings, streets, land, vehicles, machines, etc.). Everything that is smaller than a figure first of all is designed in an optical relation to the figure respectively with respect to the ability to be compatible with the Klicky hands; starting point for doing so is a scale of 1:14 which in most cases for my personal taste fits best (cf. the paper work). |
